Space Flight 704

by ZombieSkittles on October 19, 2011

Looking for something to do to kill some time on your journey through this wide open space we call the Internet? Well, might I make a suggestion? Yes? No? Get to the point? Okay.

Over at The Geekorium, my friend is writing a daily story called Space Flight 704. The story feels very much like a comic book, and daily chapters are bite sized, so it only takes a few minutes to read.
It’s a fun and enjoyable read, and I suggest you give it a look1 if you have a few spare minutes. Right now. Seriously.

  1. Though I assume most people who read this are friends of both of us, and therefore will already be reading the story, or at least know of it. Oh well.

Scott Pilgrim vs The Movie

by ZombieSkittles on September 25, 2010

This entry is part 23 of 25 in the series Blog Every Day in September

Days without alcohol/soft drinks: 25

-  -  -

This is short, unstructured and written on my phone in the back of a car. However, I POSTED IT SO IT COUNTS TOWARDS BLOGGING EVERYDAY.

I bought the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels and have been reading through them, and am completely amazed at how utterly different the story is to the movie. The characters are more defined and can be related with easier. The story itself is funnier, more interesting yet has darker moments too. It deals more with elements only lightly touched in the movie, and better too.

I know this isn’t unique among adaptations, but it’s at the point that it’s essentially a completely different story. Its weird.

Both the comic and movie are equally awesome though.

This is EXACTLY how I play Words With Friends

by ZombieSkittles on June 18, 2010

Some of the time anyway.

This is exactly how many people play the Words With Friends game on the iPhone; they’ll attempt as many different combinations of high scoring letters as they can until one just works. It all really comes down to the point that there’s no penalty for making up words. QUIGOBY isn’t a word? Well, try again!
I have won a fair few games through use of this method, but when you think about it, it does ruin the challenge. I remember playing Scrabble and having to REALLY pick a decent REAL word, lest someone challenge me as to whether it exists.

If the game wanted to be a bit more realistic, it would have the miss a turn penalty that comes with failing at making a real word. That would stop people “Brute Forcing” the game, and lead to a more challenging experience.

If you play this, what do you think?

Wolfenstein Motion Comic Part 4

by ZombieSkittles on July 25, 2009

Ok, I was evidently wrong about the last video being the last. As such, I’m not going to say anything more than that this video seems to be the prologue of the new Wolfenstein game coming out soon.

Wolfenstein Motion Comic Part 3

by ZombieSkittles on July 17, 2009

The third and I’m supposing final motion comic came out earlier today. I recall Return To Castle Wolfenstein being slightly harder than depicted here, but I’m willing to forgive them for sheer entertainment.

Wolfenstein Motion Comic

by ZombieSkittles on July 5, 2009

As yet more teaser for the release of Wolfenstein, iD Software is releasing a series of animated trailers that tell the history of the game, for those who haven’t played Wolfenstein 3D or Return To Castle Wolfenstein.

This first “motion comic” (in the video above, and the original here) loosely depicts the story of the first three episodes of Wolfenstein 3D, up until Hitler’s defeat. The idea of bullets passing through and killing three Nazi soldiers never actually made it into the game, but because of that it got a giggle out of me.

The next video is meant to come out this week, and I’m guessing will probably tell the story of the “nocturnal missions”.

If you have trouble viewing the video because it won’t fit in the window, there is an option to view it full screen on the menu bar.
