Today, I bought a copy of Day of Defeat: Source, to give it a go. I had full expectations that although it was just a port of the original game into Valve’s source engine, that being a game by the same people who made Team Fortress 2 would mean it will rock my world. I only gave it a few minutes of play, and it’s certainly a very different experience. Being a war game, it’s not quite as colourful as TF2, but had a nice feeling about it. There weren’t many full servers and being I’ve only given it a small amount of play, I can’t really say much about it, so I might talk about the game later. However, for $10, I’m not fussed even if it is crap.
Also today, I played some more Team Fortress 2 (of course). As such, here are a couple of screenshots from today.
Playing some one on one with Britt resulted in encountering this weird, I assume glitch, on Alpha Omega’s server. A jarate (it’s a jar of urine; TF2 have the weirdest weapons), and the Huntsman bow and arrow. The two were just randomly there, no use or anything. Weird, but funny. I’d like to think it’s a jarate launcher.
Above the door; do you see her? That’s Britt rocking her ability to get up above the door in the blu spawn on 2Fort. “Door Scout will kill you.”
While I ask that people primarily put questions for me to answer on my FormSpring, I don’t mind when people post challenges to me either. I asked for them originally, but after about 5000 “Do a back flip” comments, I laid off on asking. The only challenge I’ve done until now is the Shoe On Head meme that inevitably got requested.
Today though, I decided to knock another challenge of the list. The challenge made reads as follows:
Jump up and down screaming "I’m a peanut! i’m a peanut!" you need to film it for me too.
So, sounds simple enough. Since I don’t know who actually made the challenge, I’ve posted it on YouTube, and again here, for you to point and laugh at me.
You can make a new challenge by following this link http://bit.ly/ZPform. Please do; it’s really fun for me to do these things.
With all the work concerned with posing and the like in Garry’s Mod, I consider this to be art.
It’s my first time working with the program, but I’m quite proud of how this came out. Garry’s Mod is a game, but at the same time not. It’s a sandbox program where you can just mess around with the models and items from various Valve games including Half Life 2, and as you can see from the above screenshot, Team Fortress 2. The system is difficult to get the hang of, and I accidently deleted the models a few times, but it worked out eventually. There’s still tonnes for me to look through and explore, so I’ll no doubt be posting more of my hideous creations as time goes on.
Being that I’m new to the program, I know these aren’t very good. But still, I’m proud I was actually able to make it all work.
Playing this was so involved, that I lost track of time, and at the time of writing this, it’s a whole hour later than when I wanted to go to bed. I wouldn’t even get this distracted had I been playing TF2.
Anyway, if you have anything you want to say about my first attempt at G-Mod, I’m eager to hear it.
Here’s something fun to do with a few spare minutes. Take a photo of yourself running away.
Find a location with enough length you can run down.
Set your camera up, going into menu and have a two second delay on capture.
Push the button to take a picture, then run as far away from the camera as you can in those two seconds.
Post the results.
Here’s my results:
That is of course, my backyard. Now, because I know they’d come up with interesting results, I’d like to tag a few people to do this otherwise I will hunt them down; Novephel, Rubenerd, Monnie, SarcasticPickle and Brittany. When you do this, let me know in the comments so I can be all checking it out.
I love yoyos. I’m sure everyone has had one sometime in their life; that childhood memory of trying to make the yoyo come back up the string, only to have it do everything but, is a memory many people have.
I remember getting an Asteria Yotech yoyo for the first time, and falling in love with it. Yotech made the whole system of buying a yoyo slightly more difficult, with so many different types for varying “skill levels”, but restricted by price I went with the cheapest on offer; best idea ever. I learnt a variety of tricks on it, my favourite being the loop the loop, and played with it heaps. Then one day, I lost it. It was terrible. I tried buying another, but the shop was sold out of Asteria model yoyos, so i ended up getting one called a Firebird, a different more expensive model, that was heavier and featured an “auto return” function when the spinning started to slow. It was alright but was awkward to use, so I grew tired of it.
Fast forward years down the track; I’ve tried to find another Yotech yoyo, but shops in Adelaide don’t have them, much to my hopes. I ended up stuck with a two dollar “yoyo classic”, which while okay, just doesn’t work the same.
Does anyone know where you can buy them now? I thought about online, but I’d prefer to just grab one from a shop.
