I’ve had this portable clothes hanger thingy for over a year, but have only just gotten around to buying new coat hangers and actually using it.
For a long time I’ve had no room for half of my clothes and as such had small piles of t-shirts I’d simply pull off the top and wear when needed. With a new house, I’m looking to be a bit more organized.

Today, myself and the two housemates spent a considerable chunk of time moving our bedrooms around, as it turned out our previous situation wasn’t working out. The house has turned out to carry noise exceptionally well, leading to obvious problems with my night shift work. On one hand, I’m kept up during the day by people moving around, which sucks for my level of alertness at work. On the other, at night if I so much as breath, the others are woken up. We were all losing in that situation.
Now, I have the back rooms, meaning my computer and squeaky chair are far away from the others in the house. Paul is furthest away from me meaning I don’t disturb him while he naps, and Ali continues being Ali. It looks like it’s a good arrangement, and we’ll see how well it works out when we all fall asleep.
On the note of the house, I have to say I’ve been saddened by the quality of many areas of it. You’d expect a house you move into to be cleaned and presented well, right? Well I just had to removed a whole heap of curtains that were caked in cobwebs (CAKED is not an exaggeration here.) and will be washing them tomorrow. Half the lights don’t work, and there are many damaged items. I’ve taken photos of some and am continuing to take photos of them so we have dated proof of their existence, but honestly I expected better, especially since the house is run through an agent this time.
Oh well.

We’ve gotten the majority of things over to the new house, and slept there last night. It seems there are going to be a few adjustments to make, but apart from that its a nice place.
Unpacking will be slow, but we’ve moved the hard stuff, and that’s good enough ((See how the above image is actually in context? AMAZING.)) for now.
On a down note, there’s no internet in this house yet. We’re forced to entertain ourselves through more…traditional means. Oh the horror.

Did I mention we have a new house?

I wrote yesterday of my gaining of the back room, and briefly mentioned that my brother and sister both applied for it too. Unlike me, who just grunted and said, “I’d like the room please.”, they actually submitted letters formally requesting it. My sister (yes, the one who likes doors) has given me an electronic copy of her letter to share with you, titled “Appeal For The Gain Of The Back Room For Private Use”.
Dear homeowner.
(You look very pretty!) ☺♥☺♥☺♥☺♥☺♥
I have very recently heard that the back room will soon be vacated and may be available for use. After a few minutes of thought I have come up with some reasons to consider letting me move into the back room (and not James). These are some of the reasons I have come up with (so far) I have decided to show them in dot point form;
-
James will probably be moving out soon
-
James has already rejected your offer before
-
I need more space for my desks
-
I will not be able to disturb you (as much)
-
More space for when friends sleep over
-
I am thinking of buying a bookshelf (for books)
-
I will be able to organize my stuff (crap) much more easily
-
Easy access to the laundry
-
Won’t wake people up when opening my door to go to the toilet
-
I’m getting older and will need a larger space to accommodate myself
-
I won’t be using a vacuum cleaner but a broom instead
-
You can turn my old room into a walk-in wardrobe
-
I will cut onions on Saturdays
-
I am also thinking about saving up for a new dressing table
-
It is somewhere I can actually walk around in
-
Definitely more space for my crap (stuff)
-
Easy access.
-
My room won’t be right next to the toilet
I can see why it was so hard for mum to decide between us.

I need a house.
That’s the basic drive behind my latest attempt to seriously save some money. I’ve looked, and found out that to get one, I need to have at least 20% of whatever the size of the loan is. So to be safe, my goal is to save $30,000. This will be more than enough, because moving out is something I’m planning to do with my friend.
To help myself plan and keep track of this, I’ve created another site to document progress as it happens, as well as the different ways I attempt to save or make money towards the goal, and whether it worked or not.
Creative as I am, the site is named Piggy Bank (Piggy Bank has been merged into this blog), since that’s effectively what it’s going to be. The site uses a free Facebook styled theme, and I’m not sure how often I’ll post; much like this site it could be rarely, or several in a single day. As long as I have something to say, it’ll be published.

Lots of conversions of the Wolfenstein engine fall on the cutting room floor; lack of interest, lack of capabilities, and more pressing issues all contribute to the disaster that is a failed game. I’ve been responsible for more than a few failed games in my time myself.
Out of all the games that have been worked on and died, there is one that I am eternally disappointed never got past the demo stage. You guessed it; Haunted House. It’s the one Wolfenstein 3D game that falls under the title of ‘horror’. Unlike most games your character finds himself with absolutely no weapons. It’s up to you to find the knife, which is luckily fairly easy to locate. And before you know it; ZOMBIES EVERYWHERE.
What sets Haunted House apart from other zombie-themed mods (like Resident Evil) besides quality, is the sheer difficulty of killing the enemies; they can kill you with just two attacks, and take forever to kill yourself. While that makes it seem impossible, you are blessed with the fact that the zombies are amazingly slow. This turns the game into one of strategy, where you have to weave and avoid the zombies in order to survive, as opposed to the normal “all guns blazing” approach of other games. Throughout the game all you can hear is the sound of zombies forever searching you out, crying out in ‘hunger’, or people fighting back and screaming in agony. It is truly spooky.
I’ve never been able to get passed even level one, because even if I get inside the “house”, I find myself quickly out of ammo and surrounded by zombies. And loading the game up now after all this time, I don’t even get passed the maze. I grab the shotgun and am confronted by a big red monster, who after I empty the last of my shots into, still just won’t die. The game is one of the earlier ones to utilize efficient reloading for guns, and a basic inventory. The enemies and approach was something completely different for the time, and as far as I know, hasn’t truly been done since. Even though it’s a demo, Haunted House is definitely a classic in the world of Wolfenstein, and it’s unfortunate that Codetech84 and Megabyte have no immediate plans to make a full version.
Do you have any memories of playing this particular mod? I’m interested in other people’s views of this game in particular. If you do, please feel free to share in the comments below.
