Links

I got bored and thought it’d be fun to redo my little collection of links again, and change them up just a little.
Now, if you go to /links on here, you’ll end up at a page full of even tinier avatars, each linking to something I like. The idea behind it is they could be mundane little things, or websites I visit all the time. Every so often I’ll add a few to the list, and eventually it should become a page of hundreds of links (my goal is a thousand).
I’m mainly doing this because I think it’ll look really cool, and I love doing little tweaks now and again. By doing this as well, I’ll be able to clean up the main page a little as there won’t be so much in the sidebar afterwards.
For now, the sidebar links will remain until I can be bothered porting all of them over to the links page, as I’m lazy like that.

Onto another topic, I’m considering getting rid of Disqus on this site. I like the system, but I want something that doesn’t feel so out of place in my blog theme. If you’re reading this (Mr. Nunn?) What’s your opinion on the matter? Is there a better alternative? Should I keep it? Should I just stop typing this and get ready for work?

Holy crap, links.

by ZombieSkittles on December 9, 2009

Decided to do something of a links post, because hey, it’s my site I do what the fuck I want. Seriously, why the fuck are you always telling me what I can and can’t do? YOU”RE ALWAYS GETTING IN MY WAY, YOU NEVER LET ME DO WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY. WHY WON’T YOU LET ME BE HAPPY?

I love you.

So, links. None of these will be to posts in this site, but rather things elsewhere in the great big universe of the internet (the interverse).

So, that’s a few things going on that I felt like pointing out. Fun stuff.

100+1

by ZombieSkittles on July 30, 2009

So I just realized last post was the big one hundred. I’d planned to write a semi reflective piece, be full of myself, and link to a few of my favourite posts. However, I’ll have to do that for number one hundred and one, aka THIS POST.

So I’ve hit more posts on this blog than I’ve ever had in any of my other failed ventures. I’ve become über happy with my ability to commit to something, even if it is as simple as what is essentially an online journal. The fact that it’s been almost seven months and I haven’t tired of it shows that I’m changing in some way for the better. If I can stick with anything for that period of time no matter how stupid it is, I’m sure it’s a step in the right direction.

I’ve loved writing for ages, and this has been a fun outlet for myself, and I’m glad that you, and anyone for that matter, have actually read and responded to even a few of my posts. It means a lot, and I look forward to more in the future.

Here’s some of my favourite posts from this time, for various reasons.

  • Paranoia Induced Insomnia – probably the first truly personal post I’d written for the blog. Wasn’t fun, but it felt good to write it out.
  • I AM NOT! – I was a little insulted that Google Adsense decided to target gay dating advertisements to my site, so I wrote a post complaining about it. Of course, I used the word several times so it pretty much ensured the gay references stayed in the ads longer.
  • Colourful (My CD Collection) – A very pretty display of (the majority) of my cd collection of the time.
  • I post – One of those simple posts you’d probably find as the contents of a myspace chain bulletin, but I enjoyed making it, and reading the responses a couple of others made.
  • I HAVE BEEN CALLED OUT. – My friend decided to invite me to join him in doing the 100 Pushups and 200  Situps programs, to which I decided to accept by writing this post. Was hilarious fun. Of course, I didn’t make it past week 3, though neither did he.
  • Marilyn Manson – The High End Of Low – The first review I’ve written and been super proud of.
  • The world’s coolest shoes – C’mon, they’re the worlds coolest shoes. They HAD to get featured here.
  • Try Youtube in Chrome, for absolutely NOTHING NEW! – A bitchy post over nothing, but I enjoyed it thoroughly, and as I found in Rubenerd’s blog, I’m not the only one annoyed by such tactics.
  • Brüno – I wasted ten dollars to just watch Borat again, but with an Austrian accent and too much penis. Now you’ve read that sentence, you’ve basically read that blog post. Move along.
  • Squishy Pink Balls – I’m rocking SocialVibe, and wrote a much better post about it that my last one (which I refuse to link to). Plus I love that photo (sans bags-under-eyes)

And that’s that part done; here’s to another meaningless hundred posts! Who knows what’ll happen between now and then? I DON’T. And if I did, I wouldn’t tell you. Also, Aly still has homosexual tendencies and is extremely small compared to other less height impaired individuals.

Links in June/July

by ZombieSkittles on July 21, 2009

I started making these types of posts at the end of every month to highlight the posts I was particularly happy with, to ensure people saw them. However, I did miss out on last month, so to make up for it we have this here magical post covering both months.

Hey look at me; I’m on the internet! So here’s one of those posts we all love, where I point out all the stuff you’ve already seen if you frequent the blog, which you probably don’t. Without further adieu; here’s a heap of links.

Links in April

by ZombieSkittles on April 27, 2009

On The Blog:

  • Gay. –a rather misled opinional about the word gay, that could of best been summed up by the following tweet by @bonsushi, “@betterwords gay is also not a synonym for homosexual. it is now, but it used to only mean happy. words change. get used to it.” Of course, the post was made to continue the discussion with @bettwords, who, as you can guess, bailed due to overwhelming hate for his cause.
  • nin:access – One of my favourite posts I have ever written, about the new official Nine Inch Nails application in the iTunes app store.
  • The High End Of Low – Marilyn Manson – This article keeps getting hits because people are desperately searching for that fabled complete link of the album. It’s also another of my favourites.
  • Colourful (My CD Collection) – What can I say, it’s pretty.
  • LOL Energy Drink – I had the most fun ever making this article about a really bad drink.
