My songs are going to change a little these coming months; I’ve been given a set of discs by a friend at work full of random music. Swing, gypsy, rockabilly, and so forth are just some of the types of music included, so it should make an interesting change. I tried Gogol Bordello, and as you can see, despite the singers…“interesting” voice, I’ve really gotten into them. I’ve also cut the “genre” bit out of this and future screenshots so as to make it easier to see.

I left this a few days late because I completely forgot about it…but here we are, this past months most played songs, as part of my documenting my changing music tastes this year. This month I was obsessed for awhile with the release of Marilyn Manson’s new album The High End Of Low, but that didn’t stop me getting addicted to Footloose, sadly.

Well it’s been a month since I first decided to start keeping track of my music tastes via monthly captured images of my top 25 most played songs on iTunes. It’s been a long and perilous journey involving Freddy Krueger, Mario Kart and a rather entertaining local band called Prawnhead, but here is this months most listened to songs.

Very blurry still; I don’t know what causes that. But wow, now wasn’t that such an exciting post? I’m shivering from the adrenaline rush.

I am one of many people who have a constantly changing music taste. The foundations are there, but as things happen or I see something, or just my overall mood changes, I find myself listening to different types of music. I might go through a phase where all I can listen to is Mindless Self Indulgence (this happened a couple of months back), or I might feel a compulsion to listen to a whole heap of old school metal records.
To track how my music taste differs from month to month, I’m going to reset my play count on iTunes, and at around the end of every month, post the top 25 most played songs on my computer, and just see how different they are from other months. Here’s this months:

Ok, it’s not the clearest, but there it is, songs artists and albums, as well as some inaccurate genres. Now to reset my playcount and start again.
