I like the little things.

by ZombieSkittles on December 6, 2011

I don’t change many things in my life; if things are great, why turn everything up on it’s head? However, I’m often amused with really minor tweaks and things I can do to amuse myself, and keep things fresh without changing them too much.

Lately, it’s been my shoe laces.

I suddenly decided the other day while waiting for my partner while she had an appointment, to change things up a bit, and try some new lacing styles. I found a website which lists a total of thirty six different ways to lace shoes, and I tried a few of them. Unfortunately high top converses are a funny shape compared to most “normal” sneakers, and many of the lacing styles which I thought would look pretty awesome, didn’t work out so well.
The style I’ve settled on (for now, anyway) is Train Track Lacing. The style raises the sides of the shoe on converses, which I really appreciate the look of. Additionally, the style actually feels way more comfortable. It’s just as tight as I’ve always tied them, but the shoes feel must more accomodating to my feet with this particular style.

I know this might not be interesting to the majority of people out there, but I find little things like this cool; to be able to change little things in our lives to make them that little bit more unique is refreshing.

I started making these types of posts at the end of every month to highlight the posts I was particularly happy with, to ensure people saw them. However, I did miss out on last month, so to make up for it we have this here magical post covering both months.

The world’s coolest shoes

by ZombieSkittles on June 1, 2009

The other day, I was given the worlds coolest opportunity in the world of shoes; to own a pair of Nike SB Nightmare On Elm Street shoes. What did I do? I took that motherfucking deal!

They’re knockoffs, but I like to pretend. According to the guy who sold them to me (my ex’s current flame), the originals a) weren’t available in my size anyway so I HAVE to wear knockoffs, and b) apparently, and I’m not sure if this is actually true, but Nike apparently forgot to get the license to market these, and as such production on them was halted. If you have any information on whether or not that last fact is true, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

Anyway, back to the shoes, they sport the Freddy Krueger jacket colours, nice chrome Nike tick to represent his claws, fake blood splatters, and best of all, Freddy’s skin on the soles of the shoes:

These are by far, the coolest shoes in the world, if not the whole fucking universe. If you disagree, I will bite your face off and an army of fat people will sit on your parents.
